Bauchi strengthens its push for healthier, fairer communities!
Governor Bala Mohammed has reaffirmed Bauchi State’s dedication to quality healthcare, gender equality, and social protection, during a visit from UNICEF and Global Affairs Canada. He highlighted programs that have already benefited over 16,000 people through youth entrepreneurship, women empowerment, and nutrition initiatives.
The governor noted boosts in maternal and neonatal health, support for 10,000 rural farmers, and plans to allocate 15% of the state budget to healthcare, including over N872 million already released for primary healthcare and nutrition. Bauchi has also built/renovated 130 PHCs and two general hospitals, offering free antenatal and delivery services.
On gender, the state has enacted the VAPP and Child Rights Laws, established gender-based violence response offices, and created gender units across ministries and local councils. Global Affairs Canada praised Bauchi’s efforts and committed $64 million for further development projects.
