UN CHIEF MOURNS CANADA SCHOOL SHOOTING, CALLS IT “TRAGIC LOSS”

Eight dead, 25 wounded in rural British Columbia attack; world leaders express grief.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, on Tuesday. At least eight people were killed including three female students, two male students, a teacher, and two family members of the suspect while 25 others were injured.

According to local police, the suspect, who was transitioning and identified as female, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot at the school. Two of the injured were airlifted with life-threatening wounds.

Guterres extended his condolences to the families, the Government, and the people of Canada, calling the tragedy “heartbreaking” for the small community of about 175 students in the school.
