Relief turned to renewed fear in Kwara South as four freed kidnap victims receive medical care—just hours before another deadly attack struck.
Four persons abducted along the Omu-Aran–Isanlu-Isin Road on January 5 have regained their freedom and are currently receiving treatment in hospitals in Ilorin and Omu-Aran. A security source confirmed their release on Wednesday, offering brief relief to residents of the troubled axis.
But the calm was short-lived. Barely 24 hours later, gunmen reportedly killed one person and abducted another along the Correctional Centre Road, throwing Isanlu-Isin and neighbouring communities into fresh panic. Some schools have since shut down over safety fears.
Meanwhile, security operatives arrested a suspected bandit in Igbaja, Ifelodun LGA, who allegedly disguised as a beggar. Intelligence reports suggest criminal elements fleeing Baba Sango are spreading across Kwara South, using disguises to evade detection.
Residents are now calling for intensified patrols and sustained intelligence-driven operations to restore security and confidence in the region.
