The EFCC has moved closer to the Southeast with a new directorate—and it’s already building alliances to tackle crime.
The newly created Anambra Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which also covers Imo State, has officially begun operations. Its Head, Mr. Atiba Ofen-Imu, marked the take-off with a courtesy visit to the Anambra State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), seeking stronger collaboration.
Ofen-Imu said the new directorate would improve response time in tackling corruption, money laundering, internet fraud, property scams, and other financial crimes. He stressed the strong link between financial crimes and drug trafficking, calling for closer inter-agency cooperation to dismantle organised criminal networks.
NDLEA State Commander, Mr. Charles Onubogu, described the development as timely and strategic, pledging enhanced collaboration in intelligence sharing, investigation, and prosecution.
Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to professionalism, transparency, and a united front in safeguarding the socio-economic stability of Anambra and Imo states.
