Speed and carelessness turn tragic on Ihiala-Onitsha Road.
A tanker explosion on Sunday claimed the lives of its driver and conductor opposite the FRSC office along Ihiala-Onitsha Road, Anambra. The tanker, carrying flammable material, lost control at high speed, hit a roadside barricade, and exploded.
A motorcycle trailing behind was caught in the blast; the rider survived with injuries and was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala. FRSC and fire service teams responded quickly, extinguishing the fire and securing the scene.
FRSC Sector Commander Mrs. Bridget Asekhauno mourned the victims and urged motorists to obey speed limits and stay alert to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
