WASTE CRISIS: WIKE GIVES CONTRACTORS 3-DAY ULTIMATUM TO CLEAR ABUJA SATELLITE TOWNS

Refuse piles no more! FCT residents demand action, and Wike delivers a hard deadline.

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has ordered contractors to clear garbage across Abuja’s satellite towns within three days or face contract termination. The directive came after Wike inspected roads in Karu, Bwari, Kubwa, and the Apo–Karshi corridor on Friday, where he spotted growing heaps of refuse.

Wike warned: “By Monday or Tuesday, if I still see this refuse, his job will be terminated. This is unacceptable. It is embarrassing.” He emphasized that Abuja’s satellite towns are no longer villages and residents expect cleanliness and development.

The minister tasked the FCT Satellite Towns Development Department Coordinator, Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, to ensure full compliance and assured residents that waste would be evacuated promptly.

This isn’t Wike’s first warning: in November 2025, he stressed that waste management contractors must demonstrate capacity, not political connections, or risk losing their contracts. “Do your work, get your pay. If you don’t do your work, don’t expect to be paid,” he said.
