From London classrooms to shaping Nigeria’s future!
The British High Commission in Lagos on Friday welcomed 99 Nigerians who recently completed their studies in the UK through Chevening (30) and Commonwealth (69) scholarships.
The scholars, spanning master’s, PhD, and fellowship programmes, were lauded for their achievements, with many graduating with distinctions. British Deputy High Commissioner Mrs. Gill Lever encouraged them to use their skills to make a positive impact in Nigeria and serve as ambassadors for the UK.
She said: “I’m thrilled that talented Nigerians have returned with knowledge and networks to drive change. Aim for excellence in all you do!”
British Council Nigeria Director, Chikodi Onyemerela, urged scholars to leverage their expertise and connections to tackle Nigeria’s challenges.
Chevening scholar Nankur Ramdur, who studied Terrorism, International Crime, and Global Security at Coventry University, plans community outreach on sexual and gender-based violence and is writing a book to amplify her impact.
Nigeria now boasts over 3,000 Commonwealth and 1,500 Chevening alumni, contributing across sectors nationwide.
