From Nigeria to the global stage, a powerful short film confronting rape, betrayal and silence is set to shine in Miami.
Nigerian short film Tears for Enebi has been selected for screening at the Miami Beach Film Festival, marking another major international milestone for the hard-hitting advocacy film.
The 16-minute film, inspired by a true story, follows the traumatic journey of Enebi Annah, a beauty queen and poet whose life is shattered after she is raped by her trusted mentor—only to discover he also heads one of Africa’s most prominent anti-rape organisations.
Speaking in Abuja, Claudius Kayode-Summ of Solution Media Studios said the film has already made waves globally, earning selections at nearly 20 international festivals. It won Best Women Short Film and Best Actress for Rahmah Zakareeyah at the Independent Short Awards in Los Angeles.
Scheduled to screen on May 5, 2026, the Miami outing places Tears for Enebi among the few African short films featured at the prestigious festival.
Produced by Godspower Oshodin alongside multiple studios and co-directed by Seunmanuel Faleye, Peter Atigogo and Sunki, the film stars Foluke Daramola, Rahmah Zakareeyah, Kika Oshodin and others. It is also part of a wider advocacy-driven film series tackling sexual violence.
Zakareeyah said playing Enebi was about giving survivors a voice, while veteran actress Foluke Daramola described the project as an instant yes, calling it “urgent, courageous and deeply necessary.”
