Fresh anxiety in Abakaliki as police confirm that three young children were whisked away by suspected kidnappers near a military cantonment.
The Ebonyi State Police Command says the abduction happened in the early hours of Saturday, February 7, at Nkwegu, opposite the Nkwegu Military Cantonment gate in Abakaliki Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu confirmed that the victims are three minors — a two-year-old boy and two girls aged four and two. He said the incident was reported by the children’s parents shortly after it occurred.
According to the police, no ransom demand has been made so far, and no arrests have been recorded, but investigations are ongoing. Officers, Ukandu said, are working to track the suspects and rescue the children safely.
