Forum slams killings in Kwara, Katsina and Benue, urges security forces to move fast
The Northern State Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has condemned the spate of deadly attacks in Kwara, Katsina and Benue states, calling for swift and coordinated security action to stop the bloodshed.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Gombe State Governor and NSGF Chairman, Inuwa Yahaya, described the attacks as “unacceptable” and a serious threat to national security. The statement referenced the killings in Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama LGA, Kwara, the murder of at least 20 people in Doma A and Doma B communities in Faskari LGA, Katsina, and another violent assault in Abande community, Kwande LGA, Benue.
Yahaya extended condolences to the affected families and states, while urging security agencies to step up intelligence gathering, tighten surveillance and launch coordinated operations to track down the attackers and their sponsors.
He also commended the governors of the affected states for their prompt response and support for victims, reaffirming the Forum’s commitment to working with the Federal Government, security agencies, traditional rulers and local communities to tackle insecurity—both in the short and long term.
The NSGF chairman further appealed to citizens to share timely information with security agencies, stressing that collective effort is key to restoring peace across the region.
