NCDC MOURNS VICTIMS OF NORTH-CENTRAL ATTACKS, STANDS WITH KWARA, NIGER, BENUE

Grief, outrage and a renewed call for coordinated action as deadly attacks rock communities across the region.

The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has expressed deep sorrow over recent terrorist attacks in Kwara, Niger and Benue states, describing the incidents as heartbreaking and unacceptable.

In a statement on Thursday, the Commission said it was particularly devastated by the attack on Kaima in Kwara State, which claimed several innocent lives. NCDC Executive Director, Mr James Uloko, condemned the violence as heinous, senseless and deeply disturbing, while extending condolences to the state government and affected communities.

The Commission also decried the assault on Kasuwan Daji Market in Borgu LGA, Niger State, where residents were reportedly killed and others abducted, as well as the attack on Abande community in Kwande LGA of Benue State.

According to the NCDC, the repeated attacks highlight the urgent need for sustained and coordinated security efforts across the North-Central zone. The Commission pledged solidarity with the affected states and commended security agencies for their ongoing operations.

It also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s directive for troop deployment to pursue the perpetrators, while praising state governors for standing firm with their people during the crisis.

The NCDC reaffirmed its commitment to working with security agencies and stakeholders to strengthen peace, security and sustainable development in the region.
