NAS MEDICAL OUTREACH SET TO TOUCH 1,500 LIVES IN ENUGU COMMUNITY

Free healthcare brings relief, hope to Owo residents

No fewer than 1,500 residents of Owo Community in Nkanu East LGA, Enugu State, are benefiting from a free medical outreach organised by the National Association of Seadogs (NAS).

The NAS Vice President (Enugu Branch), Dr. Ogbodo Okechukwu, said the community was selected because of its high number of vulnerable people. The quarterly outreach, previously held in Nsukka, Iva Valley, Enugu and Awgu, is being delivered in partnership with UNICEF, Parklane Hospital and other organisations.

According to the Head of the Medical Team, Dr. Godfrey Anthony, about ₦3.5 million was spent on the programme, following extensive consultations with community leaders to ensure proper sensitisation.

Services provided include medical consultations, blood pressure checks, eye screening, blood sugar tests, malaria, diabetes and prostate screening.

Grateful beneficiaries described the outreach as timely and life-saving, with some receiving treatment for ulcers, malaria and even corrective eyeglasses.

“This has brought hope and smiles to our community,” residents said, urging NAS to return regularly.
