KWARA ATTACK: SHETTIMA TOUCHES DOWN IN ILORIN TO MOURN, REASSURE

Vice President leads federal show of solidarity after deadly Mamuda sect attack

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday arrived in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, to commiserate with the state government and families affected by the deadly terrorist attack on Nuku and Woro communities in Kaiama LGA.

The assault, blamed on the Mamuda sect, left scores dead and properties destroyed after gunmen struck late Tuesday into early Wednesday.

Shettima was accompanied by a high-powered delegation, including Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, NEMA DG Zubaida Umar, Sen. Ali Ndume, NDPHC MD Jennifer Adighije, former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, and Sen. Emmanuel Udende.

He was received at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, members of the state executive council, and top officials.

The visit follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive deploying an army battalion to Kaiama under Operation Savannah Shield to flush out the terrorists and secure vulnerable communities.

Tinubu condemned the killings as cowardly and barbaric, vowing that the attackers—who reportedly targeted residents for rejecting extremist indoctrination—would be tracked down and brought to justice.
