KOGI SHUTS MARKETS, MOTOR PARKS TO CHOKE BANDITS

No trading, no movement — Kogi State tightens the screws as security forces move in on terrorists and kidnappers in Kogi West.

The Kogi State Government has ordered the temporary closure of selected markets and motor parks across Kogi West Senatorial District to boost ongoing security operations.

Announcing the move in Lokoja, Information Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo said the shutdown is meant to cut off food, logistics and movement for terrorists, bandits and their informants. The action, he explained, supports joint clearance operations involving the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and other security agencies.

The directive affects communities in seven local government areas, including Kabba-Bunu, Yagba West, Yagba East, Kogi, Mopamuro and Ijumu, where multiple markets and motor parks have been closed for the duration of the exercise.

Fanwo stressed that the measure is strictly temporary and will be lifted once the operations are concluded. He also revealed that 16 kidnapped victims have already been rescued as security forces overran bandits’ camps in the state.
