Ekiti beefs up animal health to fight deadly livestock diseases.
The Federal Government has supplied Ekiti State with 80,500 doses of livestock vaccines to curb transboundary animal diseases, including 50,000 CBPP doses, 30,000 Newcastle Disease vaccines, and 500 Foot-and-Mouth Disease doses.
Receiving the vaccines under the L-PRES programme, Commissioner for Agriculture, Ebenezer Boluwade, said the move will strengthen animal health, boost productivity, and support food security. Coordinated vaccination campaigns will ensure coverage across livestock clusters and farming communities.
State and national officials emphasized the importance of timely vaccination, proper cold-chain management, and disease surveillance to reduce livestock mortality and enhance resilience against outbreaks.
