The African Union has condemned the brutal assault on Kwara communities, calling it a grave crime against civilians and pledging solidarity with Nigeria.
The African Union (AU) Commission has strongly condemned the deadly attacks on Nuku and Woro communities in Kwara State that left at least 162 civilians dead and homes destroyed.
AU Commission Chairperson, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, said he received the news with “deep shock and profound sorrow,” describing the killings as heinous, barbaric and a serious violation of human rights, peace and security.
He reaffirmed the AU’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and violent extremism, while extending condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Nigeria.
Youssouf also assured the Federal Government and Kwara State authorities of the AU’s full solidarity, pledging continued support toward restoring peace, security and stability.
