State government promises justice as police detain guardian over shocking abuse claims.
The Anambra State Government has moved swiftly to address the alleged assault of a JSS3 student, Miracle Amah, of Community Secondary School, Agulu, assuring that justice will be served.
The case came to light when the student arrived at school with fresh burns on her body, prompting teachers to alert authorities and invite her guardian for questioning. According to the student, the incident followed a misunderstanding over a phone call, which allegedly led to threats and the use of a heated pressing iron, causing burns to her face, chest and other parts of her body.
Reacting, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, said the government would not sweep the matter under the carpet, stressing that child protection remains a top priority of the Soludo administration. She warned that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Police Command has detained the guardian, with investigations ongoing.
