ABDU RAZAQ STEPS IN: KWARA SETS UP PANEL TO SUPPORT WORO ATTACK VICTIMS

Following the deadly Woro attack, the Kwara State Government is moving to rebuild trust, assess needs and deliver targeted support to survivors.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved a seven-member committee to directly engage the Woro community in Kaiama LGA, as part of efforts to provide humanitarian relief and support rebuilding after the recent attack.

According to the governor’s spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye, the committee will work with community leaders to identify urgent needs, support recovery efforts, and resolve outstanding issues linked to the incident. It is chaired by former Kaiama lawmaker Ahmed Kiwozi and includes local government officials, traditional leadership, and representatives of SEMA, KWASSIP, and the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

The panel has four weeks to complete its assignment and submit recommendations.

The move follows reports that at least 75 people were killed and several others abducted during the gunmen’s attack on Woro on Tuesday evening.
