Troops strike hard to restore peace and security in troubled regions.
The Nigerian Army has recorded major wins in the South-East and South-South, dislodging IPOB/ESN fighters from hideouts in Orsumoghu, Ihiala LGA, Anambra, and arresting suspected kidnappers in Edo State.
In Anambra, Operation UDO KA targeted militants planning an illegal sit-at-home order on Feb. 2. Troops, supported by aerial surveillance, forced the fighters into surrounding forests, with reports suggesting some were neutralised. The area remains under military dominance to prevent further attacks.
In Ebonyi, a mass burial site was discovered at Amasiri, Afikpo North LGA, containing victims of past attacks. One recently missing person was evacuated for investigation.
Meanwhile, in the South-South, troops of the 4 Brigade, working with police, arrested five suspected kidnappers in Agbede Forest, Etsako West, Edo, recovering motorcycles, phones, and a power bank linked to kidnapping activities. Suspects were handed to the Edo Police Command for further action.
The operations reflect the military’s ongoing efforts to pressure criminal and secessionist groups, improve intelligence, and restore peace and normalcy across the regions.
