TRAGIC RESCUE: MAN DIES TRYING TO SAVE GOAT FROM WELL

A late-night emergency in Oyo ends in heartbreak as firemen recover a lifeless body.

Firefighters in Oyo State have recovered the body of a 45-year-old man who died after entering a deep well in the Mokola area of Saki community while trying to rescue his trapped goat.

The Oyo State Fire Services Agency said it received a distress call at about 10:23 p.m. on Monday and immediately deployed officers to the scene. On arrival, firefighters found the man trapped inside the well and carried out a rescue operation—but he was already lifeless.

According to the agency, the man had climbed into the well after his goat fell in and became stuck.

Fire Service Chairman Moroof Akinwande expressed sympathy with the victim’s family and warned the public against entering wells, describing them as extremely dangerous and often deadly.

A painful reminder: some rescue attempts can turn fatal without proper equipment and training.
