Maritime reforms and teamwork drive historic revenue surge.
The Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service recorded a record-breaking N1.609 trillion in 2025, exceeding its target by over N85 billion, the highest surplus in its history.
Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, credited the achievement to teamwork, transparency, and operational reforms, including the B’Odogwu clearance system and Time Release Study (TRS), which streamlined cargo processing and trade facilitation.
Officers were recognised at a ceremony in Lagos for their dedication and professionalism, reflecting a growing culture of excellence and accountability within the command. Onyeka said, “A tree can never make a forest. Much has been given to us, and much is expected.”
The milestone was also highlighted by Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi during the 2026 International Customs Day, praising Tin Can Island’s contribution to national revenue growth.
