After marathon talks, FCT workers return to work as unions, minister bury the hatchet
Organised labour and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike have resolved their standoff, clearing the way for immediate resumption of duty by affected workers in Abuja.
The truce followed an all-night conciliation meeting convened by the Senate Committee on the FCT, with talks stretching from late Sunday night into early Monday morning.
In a joint circular, the NLC and TUC said all grievances raised by the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) were fully discussed, with the minister pledging mutual respect and continuous engagement on labour matters.
Key assurances include no victimisation of workers who joined the strike and the withdrawal of all related cases at the National Industrial Court.
With the agreement sealed, labour leaders directed all affiliates in the FCT to resume work immediately, urging compliance to restore industrial peace and harmony.
The strike had begun on January 19 over welfare concerns and allegations of high-handedness.
