RAIL ASSETS VANDALISED IN IBADAN – NRC CRIES FOUL

Ibadan railway corridor suffers alleged attack as millions in assets destroyed!

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has raised alarm over the destruction and removal of railway assets in Ibadan South-West LGA, Oyo State, valuing millions of naira.

NRC Managing Director Dr. Kayode Opeifa said the alleged vandalism, which occurred on Feb. 2, involved rails, sleepers, signal poles, fences, and billboards along the Mile One-Ten axis. Shockingly, he claimed the attack was led by the local government chairman, Mr. Kehinde Adeyemi Amanda, with thugs, individuals in army uniforms, and Amotekun operatives—allegedly on orders from the state governor.

Police officers from the NRC were reportedly resisted while trying to intervene. The NRC is documenting the incident and vowed to take all necessary security, administrative, and legal actions to protect its assets.

Opeifa appealed to the Oyo State governor to call the council chairman to order, stressing that the corporation remains committed to law and order despite the provocation.
