OGUN AT 50: OBASANJO URGES UNITY FOR STATE DEVELOPMENT

Former president calls on Ogun residents to build on the state’s legacy.

At Ogun State’s 50th Golden Jubilee thanksgiving service in Abeokuta, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo urged residents to work together, describing the state’s development as a shared responsibility. He congratulated citizens for the milestone and thanked God for seeing the progress so far.

Governor Dapo Abiodun echoed the call, highlighting the state’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, housing, and industrialisation, noting that Ogun’s economy now ranks second only to Lagos among Nigerian states. He stressed that today’s successes build on the legacies of past leaders like Obasanjo, M.K.O. Abiola, Wole Soyinka, and Obafemi Awolowo.

The interfaith service, themed “Ogun State, Be Grateful to God for Your Inheritance,” featured sermons by Bishop Michael Fape and was attended by former governors, senators, traditional rulers, and other eminent sons and daughters of the state.
