HOUSE LAUNCHES PROBE INTO AIRPORT, SEAPORT CONCESSIONS

Are Nigeria’s ports and airports delivering value? The House wants answers!

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Abbas Tajudeen, has inaugurated an ad hoc committee to investigate the performance of concessionaires managing federal airports and seaports from 2006 to 2025.

Speaking through Rep. Loari Kwamoti, Tajudeen said the review is part of the House’s constitutional oversight role to ensure accountability, protect public assets, and check if concessions have delivered value for money, service quality, and economic benefits.

The committee will examine contracts, revenue flows, infrastructure development, operational efficiency, service delivery, and labour issues, as well as identify gaps and recommend improvements for future concessions.

Chairman Rep. Akinlayo Kolawole pledged an evidence-based, transparent review to strengthen governance, boost investor discipline, and restore public confidence in Nigeria’s concession programmes.
