Nigeria ramps up gas output to power industrial growth, energy security, and economic prosperity.
At the Nigeria International Energy Summit 2026 in Abuja, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Dr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, revealed that Nigeria is targeting 10 billion standard cubic feet per day (BSCFD) of gas production by 2030, with domestic supply already surpassing 2 BSCFD for power, industry, and household use.
Dr. Ekpo highlighted gains in reducing gas flaring, progress under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), and increased investor confidence in upstream and downstream projects. He said gas infrastructure expansion, gas-to-power projects, and cleaner cooking solutions are key pillars of the government’s plan under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The future of Nigeria’s energy is about peace, partnership, and shared responsibility. Gas will be the backbone of industrial growth, job creation, and energy access,” he stressed, urging governments, investors, and communities to move from dialogue to action.
