Fresh arrests deepen the probe into a brutal land dispute that left four people dead in Edda.
Police in Ebonyi State have arrested Anya Baron-Ogbonnia, Coordinator of the Amasiri Development Centre, alongside two traditional rulers, over the gruesome killing of four persons in Edda LGA.
The arrests followed a joint security operation involving the Police, Army, DSS and NSCDC, according to the state police spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu. He confirmed that the monarchs — Onyaidam Bassey and Godfrey Oko-Obia — are also in custody.
The killings, linked to a long-running land dispute between Okporojor (Edda) and Amasiri (Afikpo) communities, occurred on January 29, when suspected warlords reportedly attacked the village, beheaded four residents, and razed homes.
Police say over 10 suspects have now been arrested and investigations are ongoing, vowing that everyone involved will face justice.
