DEATH TOLL REACHES 40 IN KWARA BANDIT ATTACK AS SOLDIERS MOVE IN

Chaos returns to Kaiama as armed attackers leave dozens dead, residents flee!

At least 40 people were killed in a fresh bandit raid on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama LGA, Kwara State on Tuesday evening. Soldiers and forest guards have since been deployed to restore order and prevent further violence.

Sources said the attackers, reportedly from neighbouring Niger State, held gatherings urging residents to reject the Nigerian Constitution in favor of Islamic law. When some residents resisted, the bandits opened fire indiscriminately, setting homes ablaze and forcing survivors to flee. Mass burial preparations are underway.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq condemned the attack as a “cowardly assault” by desperate terrorist cells, stressing that it came amid ongoing counterterrorism operations. He offered condolences to affected families and vowed intensified security measures to protect lives and property.

The attack highlights ongoing spillover insecurity from neighboring states, with communities calling for sustained military action and long-term protection.
