STOP-AND-SEARCH SCORES BIG IN ONDO

A routine police check turns into a major bust as suspected kidnappers are taken off the streets.

Police in Ondo State have arrested three suspected kidnappers and recovered weapons during a stop-and-search operation along Ilara Road, Ifedore LGA.

The suspects—Umar, Muhammadu and Saibu—were intercepted by the Rapid Response Team at Ibule Junction. A search turned up a locally made revolver, a live cartridge, a machete, and a Bajaj motorcycle.

According to police spokesperson DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the trio couldn’t explain why they had the items. They later made confessional statements that are now helping investigators track down other gang members believed to be terrorising nearby communities.

The suspects will be charged to court after investigations, while police say the hunt for more accomplices is ongoing.

Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal praised the officers and urged residents to keep cooperating with stop-and-search operations and report suspicious activity.
