Ambassador Magbo meets NiDCOM chair to boost diaspora welfare and engagement
The President of the Nigerian Community in Turkey, Ambassador Prince Magbo, on Wednesday held an official meeting with Hon. (Dr.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, OON, Chairperson and CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), to discuss stronger collaboration and welfare initiatives for Nigerians living abroad.
During the engagement, Dr. Dabiri-Erewa commended Ambassador Magbo for his leadership in uniting and representing the Nigerian community in Turkey. She reaffirmed NiDCOM’s commitment to protecting the rights, welfare, and active participation of Nigerians in the diaspora, while enhancing the partnership between diaspora communities and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Ambassador Magbo, in his remarks, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Dabiri-Erewa for her consistent support and advocacy for Nigerians abroad. He also conveyed the collective appreciation of the Nigerian community in Turkey to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for prioritizing diaspora affairs and implementing inclusive policies that strengthen the nation’s global engagement.
Magbo emphasized that Nigerians in Turkey remain grateful for the administration’s leadership, pledging to continue acting as responsible and patriotic ambassadors of Nigeria. “We will continue to promote Nigeria’s unity, image, and values, ensuring that our presence abroad reflects the best of our nation,” he said.
Dr. Dabiri-Erewa encouraged diaspora leaders to deepen their collaboration with NiDCOM, leveraging their influence to support national development initiatives and foster stronger diaspora-government relations. She noted that diaspora communities are critical to Nigeria’s economic, social, and cultural growth, and stressed the importance of their active participation in national policies and programs.
The meeting also highlighted key areas for future engagement, including the protection of Nigerians abroad, the promotion of Nigerian culture, and initiatives to strengthen economic ties between Nigeria and host countries. Ambassador Magbo assured NiDCOM that the Nigerian community in Turkey would continue to be a bridge of cooperation, supporting government programs and promoting Nigeria’s interests internationally.
