HEALTH SECTOR SHOWDOWN: TUC, NLC GIVE FG 14 DAYS

Health workers are done waiting. The TUC and NLC have issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Ministry of Health over the long-delayed implementation of the CONHESS salary adjustment, submitted way back in 2021.

In a joint statement signed by Nuhu Toro (TUC) and Benson Upah (NLC), the unions said the delay has dragged on for over five years, calling it unjust, discriminatory, and an insult to health workers who keep the system running.

They pointed out that while CONMESS adjustments were implemented without delay, CONHESS was ignored—raising questions about fairness and government sincerity.

The warning is clear: act now or face nationwide industrial action. This could mean mass protests, picketing of hospitals, and withdrawal of services across the country. Labour unions nationwide have already been placed on red alert.

Bottom line? Implement CONHESS—or brace for a shutdown.
