AFCON 2025: MOROCCO CELEBRATES A ‘MONTH OF AFRICAN JOY’ — KING MOHAMMED VI

From football thrills to continental pride, Morocco says AFCON 2025 was Africa’s big win.

King Mohammed VI has hailed AFCON 2025 as a historic success, saying Morocco was proud to host “a month of popular joy and sporting emotion” that lifted African football and unity.

In a statement after the tournament, the monarch said the competition went beyond goals and trophies, showcasing Morocco’s development strides, infrastructure and people-first vision. He praised institutions, volunteers and citizens for delivering a smooth, memorable event.

The king also applauded Moroccan fans for their passionate yet exemplary support, linking the national team’s strong showing — now 8th in the world — to long-term investment in sports and talent, including players from the diaspora who chose to wear the national colours with pride.

While acknowledging regrettable incidents at the end of the Morocco–Senegal final, King Mohammed urged calm, stressing that African brotherhood would prevail.

“This Moroccan success is also an African success,” he said, reaffirming Morocco’s commitment to a united, cooperative and prosperous Africa.
