TROOPS UNCOVER TERRORISTS’ MASS GRAVE IN BORNO

Another grim sign of militants’ losses in the North-East. Nigerian troops have uncovered a mass grave holding about 20 terrorists killed during recent military operations in the notorious Timbuktu Triangle of Borno State.

According to the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, the bodies were buried by fleeing terrorists after deadly encounters with troops. The military says the discovery highlights the heavy casualties insurgents are suffering and punctures their propaganda of strength.

Security forces also cleared and dominated key terrorist enclaves, including Tergejeri, Chiralia and Ajigin/Abirma, engaging fleeing fighters and neutralising several of them. During consolidation, troops intercepted two Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs)—one successfully neutralised, while the second caused damage and led to casualties among soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force members. The wounded were swiftly airlifted for treatment, with air force support providing cover throughout the evacuation.

In a related development in the North-West, troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA neutralised two terrorists in Kebbi and rescued 62 kidnapped victims from Munhaye Forest in Zamfara, a hideout linked to notorious bandit leader Kachalla Alti. The rescued hostages are now safe, with efforts ongoing to reunite them with their families.

Military authorities say the twin operations underline sustained pressure on terror and bandit networks across the country.
