TROOPS STRIKE TERRORISTS, FREE 62 HOSTAGES IN KEBBI–ZAMFARA SWEEP

Another big win against banditry in the North-West. Nigerian troops have neutralised two suspected Lakurawa terrorists and rescued 62 kidnapped victims in coordinated operations across Kebbi and Zamfara States.

Under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, soldiers of the Joint Task Force North West, working with vigilantes and other security agencies, acted on solid intelligence to hit criminal hideouts hard.

In Kerani village, near the Kebbi–Sokoto border, troops ambushed armed suspects dressed in camouflage and ready for long-distance movement. Two terrorists were taken out, and two modified motorcycles used for their operations were recovered.

Over in Zamfara, troops stormed the notorious Munhaye Forest, a known kidnapping hub, and freed 62 abducted persons. The rescued victims have been moved to safety, with arrangements underway to reunite them with their families.

Military authorities say the operations send a clear message: terrorists and kidnappers are losing ground, as security forces tighten the noose around forest and border communities.
