GERMANY, KENYA STAND BY UN AMID TRUMP PEACE BOARD DEBATE

As talk grows around a possible new U.S.-led “Board of Peace,” Germany and Kenya are drawing a clear line: global peace efforts still belong under the United Nations.

Meeting in Nairobi, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said the world already has a peace council — the UN — even as concerns rise that former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed Board of Peace could rival the global body.

Kenya’s Prime Minister, Musalia Mudavadi, echoed the stance, stressing that multilateralism remains the best path to resolving conflicts. While acknowledging the UN needs reforms, both leaders warned against creating parallel structures that could weaken global coordination.

The comments came during Wadephul’s East Africa tour, which includes talks on security, diplomacy and the rules-based international order, with stops in Kenya and Ethiopia and a visit to the African Union headquarters.
