COURT ORDERS ARREST OF TURJI-LINKED SUSPECTS

Things took a dramatic turn in Abuja as a Federal High Court issued a bench warrant for the arrest of suspects allegedly linked to notorious terror kingpin Bello Turji—after they failed to show up for trial.

Justice Emeka Nwite approved the warrant on Wednesday when four defendants connected to the terrorism case were absent in court, despite assurances from their lawyer that they would appear. Prosecutors, already in court with witnesses, pushed for action—and the judge agreed.

The suspects are accused of aiding terrorist networks with logistics, drugs, uniforms, building materials and even helping procure a military gun truck worth about ₦28.5 million. Bello Turji and other alleged masterminds are still at large.

The case, earlier struck out for lack of prosecution, was revived late last year. With the bench warrant now issued, the court has adjourned proceedings to February 24 as authorities move to bring the suspects in.
