Goodbye paperwork, hello faster justice
Taraba State has taken a big leap in judicial reform with the launch of an online portal for filing criminal cases, officially moving court processes from manual to digital.
Governor Agbu Kefas, through the Secretary to the State Government Timothy Kataps, unveiled the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS) in Jalingo, describing it as a historic step toward a modern, transparent and efficient justice system.
The new e-filing platform allows lawyers to submit cases electronically, track files from start to finish and cut delays caused by manual registry processes. Chief Judge Justice Joel Agya said the system will improve record security, case tracking and time management for judges—without interfering with judicial decisions.
Legal heavyweights, including Borno State Chief Judge Justice Kashim Zannah, hailed the move as progressive and in line with global best practices. The rollout was capped with the signing of new High Court rules and practice directions to guide digital filing statewide.
Taraba says the goal is clear: faster, fairer and more accessible justice for all.
