Security just got closer to the grassroots in Kwara
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has upgraded its Epe-Opin outpost to a full divisional command in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, boosting rapid response and crime prevention in the area.
Commissioned on January 19, 2026, by State Commandant Umar Mohammed, the new division is designed to improve intelligence gathering, strengthen community collaboration and ensure quicker emergency intervention.
“This is a strategic investment in peace and safety. We’re bringing security closer to the people and making crime prevention non-negotiable,” the commandant said.
Local government leaders, traditional rulers and political stakeholders welcomed the move, describing it as timely and reassuring for residents. The Elepe of Epe-Opin, Oba Alabi Gabriel Odeniyi, said the division will deepen cooperation between communities and security agencies.
The upgrade is part of NSCDC’s wider plan to tighten security across Kwara and keep communities safe.
