NAPTIP DECLARES 2026 “YEAR OF NO MERCY” AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKERS

Abuja – The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has launched a crackdown on human traffickers in 2026, following 93 convictions and 2,500 rescued victims in 2025. ⚖️🚨

Director-General Hajiya Binta Bello warned, “Traffickers, leave this criminal enterprise now or face the full weight of the law.” High-profile suspects, including operators of exploitative orphanages, were arrested last year, and over 120 children were rescued and rehabilitated.

Bello revealed that 370 Nigerian victims were rescued from countries like Ghana, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire through international collaboration. She pledged to expand monitoring, accelerate prosecutions, and intensify awareness campaigns, especially in vulnerable rural communities.

The fight has already begun: three traffickers convicted in the first weeks of 2026 signal NAPTIP’s “zero-tolerance” approach.
