FCT DOCTORS CELEBRATE WIKE OVER 13-MONTH HAZARD PAY, WAGE AWARD

After months of waiting, relief has finally come for resident doctors in Abuja. The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCTA), has praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for settling 13 months of outstanding hazard allowance and approving a one-month wage award for doctors.

According to a statement released by the minister’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, the doctors conveyed their appreciation in a letter dated January 15, signed by ARD-FCTA President Dr George Ebong and General Secretary Dr Yusuf Lissa. They described the intervention as timely and a strong reflection of the minister’s commitment to equity, fairness, and workers’ welfare.

The association said Wike’s action recognises the daily risks and sacrifices made by doctors and other health workers, especially those working in demanding conditions across the FCT. They noted that such support boosts morale and strengthens confidence in government leadership.

The doctors also pledged continued cooperation with the FCT Administration to advance the health sector and sustain quality healthcare delivery for residents.
