FCT COUNCIL POLLS: INEC KICKS OFF PVC COLLECTION JAN 22

Got a PVC waiting for you? INEC says come and pick it up — in person.

The Independent National Electoral Commission will begin distributing 128,396 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across the Federal Capital Territory from Thursday, January 22, ahead of the February 21 Area Council elections.

FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner, Aminu Kasimu Idris, said collection runs Jan. 22–26, from 9am to 3pm daily, at all 62 wards across the six area councils. Uncollected cards will later be available at INEC area council offices. No proxies allowed.

The PVCs cover new registrants, transferred voters, replacements for lost or damaged cards, and previously uncollected cards. INEC stressed that PVCs remain the only valid document for accreditation.

Idris disclosed that the FCT now has 1.68 million registered voters, up from 1.57 million in 2023, after over 102,000 new valid registrations and thousands of voter transfers.

He assured residents that INEC is fully prepared, citing progress in candidate screening, campaign monitoring, materials deployment, BVAS readiness, security coordination, and voter education.

INEC urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs early and ignore misinformation, pledging a free, fair and credible election in the nation’s capital.
