Taraba politics just took a dramatic turn.
Hon. Acho Righteous, widely seen as the strongest contender in the 2023 Gassol I State Assembly race, has officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and pitched his tent with the All Progressives Congress (APC) — alongside thousands of loyal supporters.
In a resignation letter addressed to the ADC chairman in Sabongida Ward, Gassol Local Government Area, Acho announced his exit with immediate effect, thanking party leaders and members for their support during his time in the ADC.
Explaining his move, the grassroots politician said he decided to join the APC to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at promoting unity, development, and national progress.
Known for his massive influence across Sabongida Ward and the entire Gassol LGA, political watchers believe Acho’s defection could reshape the political balance in Gassol I, as many of his supporters are expected to move with him.
Analysts are already calling the move a big win for the APC in Taraba State, especially as political realignments intensify ahead of future elections.
One thing is clear: Gassol I politics just got more interesting.
