Can Nigeria take control of its own story? That’s the big question as the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) rolls out the Nigeria Reputation Summit 2026.
Holding on January 20 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, the inaugural summit will bring together leaders from government, business and civil society to craft practical strategies for rebuilding Nigeria’s image at home and abroad.
According to Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, Chairman of NIPR’s Nigeria Reputation Management Group, the goal is clear: move from talk to action. He says a nation’s reputation isn’t accidental—it’s shaped by leadership, institutions, citizens and the stories they live out daily.
The summit, designed as an annual forum, will track progress, encourage collaboration and promote accountability. Former Lagos State Governor and ex-minister Babatunde Fashola will deliver the keynote address, themed “Better Nigeria, Better Reputation.”
A major highlight will be a youth-focused session on how technology, innovation and creativity can help project a more authentic Nigerian story globally, with ministers from key sectors expected to join the conversation.
Bottom line: Nigeria is looking inward to reshape how the world sees it.
