If you hear gunshots around Afaka this Saturday, don’t panic — it’s a planned military exercise.
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has announced it will conduct a Brigade Inter-Battalion Shooting Competition for cadets of the 73 Regular Course at its Open Range in Afaka.
In a statement on Friday, NDA spokesperson Major Reuben Kovangiya urged residents of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya, Afaka, and surrounding areas to stay clear of the shooting range throughout the exercise.
He assured the public that all necessary safety measures have been put in place but warned against trespassing during the competition.
The NDA also conveyed the assurances of the Commandant, Major-General Oluyemi Olatoye, stressing that the exercise is strictly controlled and part of routine cadet training.
