AIRPORT SCARE ENDS SAFELY: ALL 260 ON BOARD RESCUED IN LAGOS

What could have turned into a major aviation disaster at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, ended in relief on Friday night.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed a successful rescue operation after a passenger aircraft developed technical issues mid-air and was forced to make an emergency landing in Lagos.

According to LASEMA, distress calls came in through its 767/112 emergency lines, prompting the immediate activation of the state’s emergency response plan. The aircraft, carrying 248 passengers and 12 crew members, landed safely after the pilot expertly handled the situation.

Emergency teams were already on standby as the plane touched down. Following safety checks by the pilot and engineers, the aircraft was moved to the apron for further inspection.

The good news: all passengers were safely evacuated, with no injuries, no loss of life, and no significant damage to the aircraft.

LASEMA praised the swift collaboration among responding agencies, including the Lagos State Ambulance Service, Fire and Rescue Service, and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and reassured residents of its readiness to handle emergencies at any time.

In the end, it was a scare — but one that ended safely.
