Even in heartbreak, Nigeria is proud of its Super Eagles
The Federal Government has hailed the Super Eagles for their valiant effort in the AFCON 2025 semi-final, despite losing 4–2 on penalties to hosts Morocco in Rabat.
In a statement, Minister of Information Alhaji Mohammed Idris praised the team for their character, teamwork, and resilience, saying they gave Nigerians at home and abroad reason to cheer.
“Even in defeat, you reminded us what wearing the green and white means — courage, unity, and never giving up. Hold your heads high, learn from this experience, and come back stronger,” Idris said.
The semi-final had ended 0-0 after 120 minutes, sending the match to penalties where Morocco edged through. Morocco will face Senegal in Sunday’s final, while Nigeria battles Egypt for third place on Saturday in Casablanca.
