ARSENAL TAKE CONTROL OF LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINAL AFTER THRILLER AT CHELSEA

Arsenal have one foot in the final! The Gunners edged Chelsea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final, moving closer to their first final since 2018.

Ben White opened the scoring with a classic Arsenal corner header in the 7th minute, and Viktor Gyokeres made it 2-0 after capitalizing on a Chelsea keeper error just after halftime. Chelsea fought back through Alejandro Garnacho, who netted twice off the bench, keeping the Blues’ hopes alive.

Arsenal’s Martin Zubimendi restored the two-goal cushion in the 71st minute with a slick finish from a flowing team move, but Garnacho’s late strike made the final score 3-2, ensuring the second leg in north London promises fireworks.

Meanwhile, Manchester City took a 2-0 advantage over Newcastle United in the other semi-final first leg on Tuesday.
