Good news for patients in Kwara — no more long trips or expensive referrals just to get proper scans 🏥✨
The Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) has officially reopened its Radiology Department after months of upgrades and refurbishment, bringing cutting-edge medical imaging services back to the hospital.
The revamped department is now fitted with state-of-the-art diagnostic machines, a development health experts say will significantly improve patient care across the state.
Speaking in Ilorin on Tuesday, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Bola Ahmed, described the reopening as a major milestone for both KWASUTH and Kwara State’s healthcare system.
According to him, the lack of functional and sophisticated radiology equipment in the past had limited accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
Dr. Ahmed explained that the new acquisition aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and boost diagnostic capacity within the state.
“With installation completed, the Radiology Department has resumed full operations, offering patients essential imaging services right here in the hospital,” he said.
He added that all necessary testing has been completed and trained personnel are already in place, making the department fully operational.
The upgrade is expected to significantly reduce the burden on patients, cutting down the need to rely on private facilities or travel outside Kwara for medical investigations.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Dr. Ahmed assured residents that investments in equipment, infrastructure, and manpower would continue, with the goal of expanding access to quality healthcare across the state.
