SUDAN’S KORDOFAN KILLING FIELDS: UN SOUNDS ALARM ON CIVILIAN SLAUGHTER

Imagine drone strikes pounding hunger-ravaged North Darfur right before Sudan’s war hits its 1,000th bloody day—now the UN’s begging for a ceasefire as thousands flee escalating horrors in Kordofan.

OCHA warns rival armies—Sudan’s military vs Rapid Support Forces—have partitioned the nation since April 2023, triggering over 12 million displacements, the world’s largest crisis, with fresh violence uprooting 1,000 in South Kordofan (Dec 31-Jan 4) and 2,000 in North Kordofan Monday.

From late October to December, 65,000 fled Kordofan alone amid outside meddling destabilizing the region. Drone attacks hit famine epicenters, amplifying risks to civilians desperate for protection and aid access.

UN calls for immediate hostilities halt in New York, while UNDP clears Khartoum debris post-recapture, distributes meds despite wrecked infrastructure, and offers Ed-Damer women psychosocial support as families rebuild.
