Ever watched political elders pass the torch with prayers for an Igbo presidency? That’s the electric vibe as Peter Obi and top Igbo leaders stormed Sen. Jim Nwobodo’s Enugu home for New Year homage.
On Tuesday, ex-Anambra Governor Peter Obi rolled up to the octogenarian ex-Anambra helmsman in Amechi with Sens. Ben Obi, Sam Egwu, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, and Sen. Gil Nnaji—pure respect for the elder statesman.
Nwobodo hailed Obi as “respectable and accepted by all,” urging steadfastness for Ndigbo’s overdue Nigerian bargain after 56 years: “Zik would be shaking in his grave—we formed this nation!” He prayed God grants Obi the top job, calling him a friend since his governor days.
Obi kept it light: “Just New Year wishes—we’ll return for politics and Nike Lake ADC declaration brief.” Sen. Ben Obi dubbed Nwobodo Southeast “Godfather,” noting this annual ritual skips heavy talks for health and prosperity cheers.
